Why it was born
2020: an ethics was needed before the technology
In April 2020, with the world in lockdown because of COVID-19, Las Naves —the innovation centre of the València City Council, which no longer exists as an entity and is now part of València Innovation Capital— presented IANética, a technohumanist project driven by Pedro Mujica.
The starting idea was simple and ambitious: 2020 would mark the beginning of the greatest technological transformation in history —artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, extended reality— and we could not close our eyes to innovation, but we could build an ethics that protected people from the dangers of an unstoppable, dizzying progress. From that combination of thought and technology technohumanism was born: the union of heart and machine.
Europe was working on its own human-centred artificial intelligence strategy, and València, through Missions València 2030, wanted to get ahead: to be one of the first technohumanist cities in the world. IANética was the motivation and the excuse to make it happen.
What it was
An ethics for the good use of AI and the Internet of Everything
An ethics for artificial intelligence
A meeting point to develop the ethics of the good use of artificial intelligence and the Internet of Everything: so that the maxim “putting technology at the service of human beings” becomes real.
A new citizen
Education and training of a new kind of citizen who knows how the world will be transformed and what the path is to take an active part in the Fourth Industrial Revolution: a Second Renaissance with the human being at the centre.
To put it into practice, IANética was an open website (ianetica.com), a Technohumanist Manifesto with sixteen fundamental rights in the digital age, a series of articles, public meetings at Las Naves and a list of friends and collaborators. A project “open and inclusive, by everyone and for everyone”.
Recognition
Three people, one beginning
IANética began in 2020, in the middle of COVID, with three people from Las Naves with whom Pedro Mujica started the project: David Rosa, Marta Chillarón and Anna Melchor. It would not have existed without them. This section is, above all, a tribute to the three of them.

David Rosa
Co-director of Las Naves
He co-directed Las Naves when IANética was born. He is now at València Innovation Capital, the City Council innovation strategy that absorbed Las Naves.

2026 · why it changes
Las Naves no longer exists: IANética joins the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 2031 capital-of-culture project
IANética was born at Las Naves and since 2020 was one of its technohumanist projects, within Missions València 2030. Today Las Naves has disappeared as an entity: its website, lasnaves.com, redirects to València Innovation Capital, the innovation strategy of the València City Council, and Las Naves remains only as one of its physical spaces.
That is the reason for the change. The new project, València Innovation Capital, has not wanted to take IANética back. In addition, the City Council has created an artificial intelligence observatory inside the institution itself, and artificial intelligence is no longer linked to what Las Naves was.
This is the moment when IANética becomes part of the capital-of-culture project of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a candidate for European Capital of Culture 2031. The technohumanist ethics of artificial intelligence goes on its way: from València to Gran Canaria.
