On 4 November, the V CONGRESO DE TECNOLOGÍAS EMERGENTES PARA ECOSISTEMAS 4.0 (5th Congress of Emerging Technologies for 4.0 Ecosystems) was held in Valencia, at Las Naves, the main headquarters of the IANética project. Its main theme was Artificial Intelligence and Humanism, and it was organised by AECTA. Pedro Mujica delivered the opening talk, entitled: “Technohumanism and Human Empowerment: Foundations of the Fifth Industrial Revolution”.

The Emerging Technologies Congress has become one of the most important forums for developing the emerging technologies ecosystem, meeting the main technology investment managers of Spanish industry, exchanging information, building alliances and finding opportunities. This fifth edition set out to address two important topics: the change in people, and artificial intelligence.

Pedro Mujica, Computer Science Engineer and head of the IANética Project at Las Naves, together with Ignacio Villoch, a Fintech influencer and director of the Digital Enterprise Show (DES) Congress, were the star speakers who opened this edition, alongside the rest of the professionals, business people and scientists, analysing the current state and the adaptation of Spanish industry to the 4th industrial revolution through technical talks and round tables in which, in parallel, the challenges that connected industry must face were debated. Below you can watch the first part of the day on YouTube:

This congress, organised by the Association of Technology, Consulting and Innovation Companies of the Valencian Community (AECTA), with the collaboration and support of IANética-Las Naves, the Asociación de Investigación en Diseño y Fabricación (Design and Manufacturing Research Association), together with the Ajuntament de València, València Activa and VLC Tech City, focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and humanism, and was opened with Pedro Mujica’s talk, “Technohumanism and human empowerment: Foundations of the 5th industrial revolution”. In it, the Humanist Technologist addressed how Technohumanism aims to put technology at the service of people. And, in this sense, the necessary development of an ethics that allows technological advances to benefit human beings and society.

Next, under the title “Renaissance 5.0: Digital Humanism for a New Era”, the director of the DES Congress, Ignacio Villoch, reflected on the momentous point at which society finds itself: a new Renaissance 5.0. Just as the Renaissance marked a transition to a modern age with technologies that democratised knowledge, we are now emerging from a global pandemic that has accelerated many digital changes, and new worlds such as the metaverse are being discovered.

The importance of cybersecurity in Artificial Intelligence (AI) was addressed by the cyber-intelligence expert and founder of the company S2 Grupo, José Rosell. Rosell, who also chairs the Comisión Comunidad 5.0 (Community 5.0 Commission) at the Fundación Conexus, explained how, in the face of the growth of AI, it will be essential to look after the large supply networks and keep them secure from cyberattacks in order to guarantee citizens’ rights.

And finally, to analyse when and how the innovation process should be approached, the congress featured the participation of Patricio Montesinos, PhD in Innovation from the Universitat Politècnica de València. In addition, the director of Inndromeda, Oscar David Sánchez, explained the design of people-centred technological solutions.
