G. Matías de la Barra Aguirre takes us on a journey toward a deep and conscious reflection on how to humanise technology, with the aim of coming to understand the essence behind the good management of companies in times when the economy is measured in cryptocurrencies or social relationships are built on virtual bonds in the metaverse.

This book is conceived as a guide for all those people who have in mind to create, manage and steer the course of a company, large or small, national or multinational, even real or virtual. This includes those who would never have imagined themselves in such responsibilities and whom life has placed in those roles.

Without losing sight of the fact that business realities are ultimately a reflection of the society we live in, this is a book that helps identify the increasingly blurred role of people in a highly technified world whose destination does not seem to be the best for the human being. Under the cover of the much-desired digital transformation of business, voracious policies and strategies have been established regarding the adoption of disruptive technologies, in which we people have not always come out well.

Nevertheless, as we read it we will see that there is a solution to this situation that repositions people in the place from which, paradoxically, other people have removed them. Not without paying a certain toll for it, of course.

Matías de la Barra is a professional trained in industrial engineering with more than 22 years of experience in fields as diverse as structural engineering and projects in the petrochemical, naval, aeronautical and defence sectors. For the last 12 years he has devoted himself to massive data analysis using artificial intelligence in business applications as diverse as predicting photovoltaic production for the Spanish energy system, analysing web user profiles in publishing environments, and the physical simulation of hydraulic systems in isolated and harsh environments such as offshore power plants.
